There is no better day for love songs than Valentine’s Day!
The day that in Finland is known as “Ystävänpäivä”, Friends’ Day, has its roots in the ancient Roman spring festival of fertility. St. Valentinus, on the other hand, according to one legend, secretly married Roman soldiers with their lovers.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, Espoo Laulu offers a gentle embrace. There will be praise of love as well as longing and heartache, without forgetting the twists and turns of modern dating. In the mix, the “translation pearls”, or the songs that were later adapted into Finnish, form their own string.
Espoo Laulu is a mixed choir more than 30 years old, which includes over 50 singers of different ages and appearances. The choir performs mostly rhythm music with joy and a twinkle in the corner of the eye, without forgetting artistic ambition.
